After completing my MBBS from Army Medical College in 1983, I worked in the Army Medical Corp till 2002. Around this time, I decided to pursue, and was successful in completing in 2003, an MBA in Health Planning from Preston University, Multan Campus.
In 2003, I established Kaus-e-Kazah Welfare Organization. It is registered with Social Welfare Department, Government of Punjab; Punjab Welfare Trust for the Disabled; and Literacy. KKO is serving special and deserving students for education, rehabilitation and vocational training to date. We are also working in the field of micro-enterprise development for women empowerment at a national level. For this, we are registered with National Training Bureau. KKO has worked with NBP, Bait-ul-Maal, and Punjab Welfare Trust for the Disabled. I also established Network for Human and Social Development in 2005 initially as “Disaster Management Training Institute”. after the 2005 Earthquake caused massive damage and loss of life. NHSD was initially established in order to serve in the field of disaster management as there was no system in place at that time. Now, NHSD has expanded into including women empowerment, safety and security, fire and safety, advocacy, health, water and sanitation, and descriptive surveys. NHSD registered as an independent entity in 2012 with Social Welfare Department ICT (Islamabad Capital Territory) and Pakistan Center for Philanthropy (PCP). NHSD has successfully completed projects with 43 national and international organizations including USAID, UNFPA, Muslim Aid, GIZ (formerly GTZ), InterCorporation, Malteser International, Hashoo Foundation, Hasher Foundation, Sangee, The Citizen Foundation, Sona Foundation, ILO, Save the Children, OXFAM/NOVIB, CDA, and NHEPRN. We are trainers and have been safety and security consultants for Bestway Cement, MCB, State Bank. NBP, Habib Bank. Apart from KKO and NHSD, I was Deputy Director, Disaster Research Institute, Preston University Islamabad. I started a course in health planning for Bahauddin Zakaria University, Multan. |
